Magazines

Catalog magazines separately from comics, give them their own library folder, and route their downloads.

Comicarr handles magazines that ComicVine tracks, such as Wizard: The Comics Magazine or Nintendo Power. You can catalog them as Magazine so they live in their own library folder, apart from your comics.

A magazine searches, downloads and imports exactly like a comic. Cataloging a series as Magazine changes where it is stored, not how it is found.

Set a magazine library folder

Open Settings → Media Management → Series Folders and set Magazine destination to the folder your magazines should live in, for example /magazines. In Docker, use the path inside the container.

The magazine destination counts as a library root, so it can also be chosen as a series folder by hand.

Catalog a series as Magazine

Open the series page and choose Magazine under Catalog this as.

  • If a magazine destination is set, the series moves to its automatic folder there, so new downloads import there.
  • Files already on disk stay where they are and are still read from the old folder. To move them as well, use Change folder on the series page and choose Move them to the new folder.
  • A series whose folder you chose yourself keeps that folder.

Switching back to Comic keeps the series where it is.

Send magazine downloads to their own folder

To keep magazine downloads apart from comics in qBittorrent:

  1. Add a route for the magazine library root under Settings → Download Clients, for example /magazines | magazines | /downloads/Magazines. See Categories by library root.
  2. Add /downloads/Magazines to Additional monitored folders on the same page, so finished downloads there are imported. See Post-Processing.

Imports from any monitored folder use your import file operation (copy, hardlink or move), so seeding torrents keep their files.
